Ken likes to break ribs!

Here we go again!

Saturday night Ken was replacing the U joints on the truck and he clearly was not thinking and he did not use the emergency brake. After he took out the last bolt the truck started to roll backwards. (We moved and our new driveway is a bit steep.) He was not able to get out from under it and something grabbed his sweatshirt and twisted him up underneath the truck. Phil was out there with him but was able to get out in time. Thank goodness Phil was there with him and he was not alone. Against his wishes I called 911 so an ambulance could bring him to the hospital. I realize head wounds bleed and scare people but I also knew he was hurt in other places because he was unable to breathe without pain. Remember he broke his back and ribs in May so I am getting pretty good with all of this stuff..............:) We were informed in the Emergency room that he would receive 4 stitches in his finger on his left hand, 10 staples in his head,(which apparently is equivalent to 30 stitches) and a nice couple of days in the hospital. The punctured lung and 5 broken ribs (the opposite side of the broken ribs from the motorcycle accident)are the reason for the hospital stay. We are hoping he can come home today. More then likely tomorrow though.

So there you have it, I know, I know, there were many other things that could have happened, however, they did not. For that we are most grateful and are extremely happy that these injuries are not life threatening.

Just one of his MANY bruises

Out of touch

Can you say out of touch? I can, we moved and we have not had the Internet in over 2 weeks. I was going crazy, I was having to go to a hotel parking lot to hook on to their wireless to write to Little Kenny....ugh!!! So for now we are using a wireless card from Sprint. I just wanted to say that on Thursday while you all are cooking, relaxing, or cleaning be sure to watch Good Things Utah. I did a segment on it for women over 40 that still want to look stylish. Yes, that's right, over 40, there I said it!!! Please, Please, Please, remember that Television puts weight on you. I feel it important to say however that I truly have lost quite a bit of weight since you all have seen me so just remember that I am not has FAT as I am going to look. Oh yeah, be sure to check Little Kenny's blog on what is happening with him.

General Conference

Sunday morning Kenny said "hey you know what we should do, we should go downtown and see if we can get into the afternoon session of conference." Of course I was thrilled with the idea as I have never had the opportunity to attend conference. Vicki and Phil went with us as well and Vicki left her house before we did so she could wait in the standby line. We had numbers 62, 63, 64, & 65. I was excited but still had no idea where these seats were. They actually save very good seats for people that wait in standby. I just wanted to share some of these pictures with everyone. Also, it was a "beautiful" day!!!

Our fall foliage drive!!!

Well you all know how much I love to take pictures of nature so here are a few more. I have always told my kids when you see something in nature that is beautiful it is Heavenly Father's way of letting us know he is in charge. Ken and I went for a ride last weekend on the motorcycle to see the leaves changing and to just be together (that doesn't happen a lot these days with me working 2 jobs) so here are a few pictures from the ride.

I wanted to go this morning but it is raining up here so it is snowing in the mountains...........:( I can tell you that it is "freezing", I had to turn on the heater to take the chill out of the air. Don't be jealous..........:)

My Birthday Presents!

Yes I know it is hard to believe, I am officially 46. Now please hold your comments on how you can't believe I am that old to yourself, I don't want to offend any others who might be close to my age and not look nearly as good as I do.................lol! Blah, Blah, Blah..........anyone who reads this totally knows I am kidding and you all know how I feel about the way I look. You can only do so much with what you got.............:) Vicki, Justin and the kids made me my apron with the kids hand prints on them, the flag is from Sis and Phil. I will fly it on the 16th of every month for sure. I am going to keep it up for a bit because I like it, it makes me smile. Can you guess what state it is for???????

Tyden and his MeeMa

Tyden has started asking "please can I spend the night", to which my reply is "of course you can". Like I would tell him no, to anything. He spent the night last night and he wants to spend the night tonight as well. Here are a few pictures of the time that we have spent together. He loves to go into the trees that you see behind him and start building things with his treasures.

Me, Tyden, and Auntie Sis decorated the house for Halloween this afternoon. He wanted to take a break and eat one of Auntie Sis's cookies so he asked me to sit by him on the porch and have a cookie, how can you deny them that when they ask for something so simple.

Here is one of Tyden and his cute little friend that lives next door. They were taking a Capri Sun break.........:)

Something from Little Kenny

In Kenny's letter this week he forwarded this poem that he carries around in his scriptures and was ask to read in Sacrament meeting last week. I read it to Ken and couldn't even get through the entire thing. Kenny loves Texas and the people there. I heard from someone last week that is in his ward, they love him too! It comforts me so much to know that people love him and are taking care of him while he is gone. I just wanted to share this with you, I hope you enjoy it.
CREED OF THE UNASHAMED
(author unknown)

I am a part of the fellowship of the Unashamed.
I have the Holy Spirit Power.
The die has been cast.
I have stepped over the line.
The decision has been made.
I am a disciple of His.
I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still.
My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure. I am finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tame visions, mundane talking, chintzy giving, and dwarfed goals!
I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity.
I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded. I now live by presence, learn by faith, love by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by power.
My pace is set, my gait is fast, my goal is Heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions few, my Guide is reliable, my mission is clear.
I cannot be bought, compromised, deterred, lured away, turned back, diluted, or delayed.
I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.
I won't give up, back up, let up, or shut up until I've preached up, prayed up, paid up, stored up, and stayed up for the cause of Christ.
I am a disciple of Jesus Christ.
I must go till He returns, give till I drop, preach till all know, and work till He stops me.
And when He comes to get His own, He will have no problem recognizing me....... My colors will be clear!

This is after it was all over. There are no more black clouds but it is pretty cool outside right now. Dare I even say it is "cold".........................

It is SO fun being a Pompa and MeeMa

Vicki and Jessica brought the kids up tonight for a welcome surprise. I had just made Ken some dinner so of course Miss Hadlee felt the need to eat dinner for the 2nd time, what a surprise. Tyden was only interested in the strawberries that there seems to be a never ending supply of at MeeMa's house. After getting her spaghetti all over her face Hadlee had to have a brownie and then it was off to the shower she went. It didn't take long for Tyden to find out where she was so he hopped in with her. It is a fight to get them out that is for sure.

It is so cool up here tonight we had the windows open so the kids were cold after there shower so they snuggled up on the couch with us with their favorite soft blankies.

Here is a picture of Auntie Sis that Tyden wanted to take. Not bad for a 3 year old.........:)

My friend had this fun survey on her blog and it determines what year you belong to. I belong in 1979 which I am good with. It was the year before I graduated high school and I didn't have a care in the world.........:)
This is what it says about me..............what do you think? I hope being brash isn't a bad thing. ~Bold and brash, you take life by the horns. Whether you're partying or protesting, you give it your all!~
Let me know what year you belong to. http://www.blogthings.com/whatyeardoyoubelonginquiz

This should be fun!

A cute family friend of ours did this on her blog. We have known her family many years before she was born so it was so fun to share a memory I had with her, of her! So I thought I would do the same on mine so as you all post on my blog hopefully you will do the same on yours so I can share a memory of you on your blogs.

1. As a comment on my blog, leave a memory that you and I have had together. It doesn't matter if you remember me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you! If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing and leave a memory about you on your blog!

Saturday ride

Last Saturday we went on a ride on the motorcycles with Steve, Deb, Jessica and Phil. Here is a picture of them. I took it as I was on the back of Kenny's bike. Not bad huh?

I just love taking pictures of nature. Jessica had her camera so I asked her to take this one for me.
Jessica took this one of me and Kenny. Can you tell I use my hands when I talk????

This is a picture of a grove of Aspens, it is on the Alpine loop. It is sooo beautiful. If you ever get the chance take the short drive.

Happy Birthday Kenny!!

Yep, it is time to indulge me one more time as I brag about my best friend, at least it isn't another picture of that deer..............lol!!

Today is Kenny's birthday, 52 years old. Yesterday was our 26 year anniversary and we both kept saying we couldn't' believe it had been that long. He has been married to me half of his life so far, poor guy. It is crazy that we are still so much in love and enjoy spending so much time together. I remember the day we met I "knew" he was the one. I know people say that but to those of us who have had that happen to us, we know with a certainty that permeates down into our soul. Sorry, I just didn't know how else to say it. There are times when I can still see him walking to a restaurant or somewhere that we are meeting and I will remember how I felt that very first time I saw him.........I still feel that same way. I am grateful to this man for many things, for loving me and for letting our children see that as they were growing up, for honoring his Priesthood, for teaching our son that same principle, for being a friend to so many, for struggling so hard to get us to the Temple, for his sense of humor (did I just say that), for being an awesome Dad, and most importantly.......for loving me every minute that we have been together.

This is a million dollar photo, don't you think?

I know you all think I am about crazy by now. Well to be honest I could very well me but I could not pass this photo opportunity up. Pico has been staring or growling at this little deer for weeks so I figured it was time for them to meet. The deer was about 5 or 6 feet away at first and he just came closer as Pico sat stoically on that rock. It was very funny because they were both so curious. Pico eventually lost interest and turned his attention to something that he found more interesting.

Avery and her wild stories

This is my niece Avery....I am really her great Aunt but that makes me sound much older then I am so let's just call her my niece. She is so funny and tells stories like mad. This morning she was looking at my pictures on the table by the front door. She was telling me all about out how her Daddy was in charge because he likes to spank her and man does it hurt because he spanks hard....her Daddy does not like to spank her nor does she get a lot of spankings, let's just clear that up right now. She loves her hair and I asked her if she knew how to do her hair. She said no her mommy always does it for her. I told her she should practice on her mommy's hair so she could then do her little sisters hair when she was born. There is no baby on the way, this is just something that I wanted to plant in Avery's head so she could then bug her parents about a baby sister..............lol! It is my job to irritate Autumn when it comes to her children.....:) Avery promptly told her mother that she needed to do her hair so she would be good at doing her little sisters hair. Autumn being the good mother that she is went right up stairs so Avery could do what she wanted.

Now this is my niece Autumn and this is the beautiful hairdo that Avery did for her. She was very proud of this and game bouncing down the stairs full of excitement at what she had accomplished. I of course helped Avery take this lovely photo of her mother and explained to her I would put it on my blog for all the world to see. Avrels Teany ( a nicname from Jessica) here you go your first of many lovely hair do's. I love you!!!

Do you think he likes us??????

Okay I know it is pretty bad because the only thing I blog about is this poor little deer. I went to look out the window (I told you I do it all of the time) and the deer was laying on the grass and it scared me to death. So of course I had to take more pictures of him. Here is a good one, I am so mad that I didn't do the weeding that I wanted to do this morning because it would have been a perfect picture. Well after doing the army crawl to get the last one I went upstairs again and he was right back where he was the other day staring at our cat on the patio, Pico was growling at him.................crazy cat!

An active few days on the hill...........:)

So first thing in the morning I open the drapes and then the windows to let the morning breeze in. A few mornings ago around 6:30 I checked out the windows too see if I could see any wildlife. I spotted two bucks and watched them for a while. I got this picture as the biggest of the two decided to head over to the neighbors yard. Later that night I went out on the patio to light the BBQ and of course I looked around and saw nothing, just as I was going into the house, low and behold......they are back. This is a picture of the smaller one this time in our other neighbors yard.

So early this evening we went to the grocery store, Saturday run, you know for the things that you will need for Sunday........:). I opened the drapes because I was going to open the windows, a storm was coming and I wanted to have the breeze and I wanted to smell the rain. I know I can't help it, I am a freak about nature and wildife. So as I started to open the drapes I see my litte friend in the backyard, I mean actually on the grass. I watched as he walked around and then promptly laid down on the grass. The poor thing is so skinny and his breathing was very fast. I waited for a while and then snuck down in the basement and basically crept over to the window sort of hunched over as I walked ( I am sure you can all picture that) and lifted the camera up and turned the view finder towards me so I could actually see him without him seeing me. If I looked out the window I would have scared him off. So this is what I took of him. You may think this never ending story is over, oh you would be wrong! I came up stairs and was telling Kenny about how I got the picture, I looked out the door that goes out on the patio from the dining room and there he is staring inside the house. I was laughing when I saw him just staring into the house like he wanted to come in. I walked over to the window next to the door and took this one.
Remember in the beginning of this story I told you that a storm was coming.......remember? Here is the beginning of it right before sunset.

Here it is after the storm had pretty much passed us and started going towards the east. Kenny made fun of me because I basically stalked the poor deer and then kept taking pictures of how different the sky looked every 5 minutes. You know how that is, as the sun goes down the sky changes like crazy. I just love it!!!

This is the end, I promise no more pictures. I just love how the sky can change in a manner of minutes. BTW, the breeze is still blowing and it feels great!!!

Kenny's baptism all the way from Texas

This is Melody Wells and her daughter Alex. Kenny baptized Alex along with his companion Elder Lemiuex. They were visiting family here in Draper and Sister Wells called me and we met so we could take this photo for Kenny. Ken and I were both so excited to meet someone that knows Kenny from the mission field and especially that he baptized. What a great feeling!

What is he doing?

This is posted on Kenny's blog but for those of you who don't look at it then you can see what I got on my phone the other day. I was making dinner and I got a message telling me I have new picture mail. I opened it because I googled the area code and knew it was from someone in Kenny's mission. This is what I saw along with a message "your son's 6 month mark burning his tie", what a nut!!! He told me he wasn't really burning it while it was on his neck, that was only for the picture.

Fascination with a grasshopper

Here is our little Miss Hadlee enjoying a grasshopper that her Bompa showed her. She loved having it on her shirt. Ken would put it on her shirt and she would throw it off and then she would pick it up and put it on her shirt.....we all just laughed at her.

Here it is in her hand. Tyden would "never" pick one up and here she is with it in her hand........:) It is such a joy to be able to share these things with our grandchildren. We are so very fortunate.

Sucker fun!!!!

Yes once again I did what I could to get the kids hyped up on sugar so they could go home to their parents. My neice's came up for a visit with my sister and the kids. I always do what I can to give Autumn's kids noisy toys, candy, whatever it takes. It is my job as an Aunt to spoil the kids, of course Tyden and Hadlee were here so they all got in on the fun.

Here is Vicki and Autumn, they were jealous I didn't get them a sucker so they wanted a picture too!!!!!!

Another trip to the MTC

Well we made another trip to the MTC this morning. We took Kenny's sister and it was so fun to share that experience with her. Vicki was with us taking this picture for us, thanks V.......:) It was so fun to see all of the missionaries there with their white shirts and ties. Of course I thought of Little Kenny as I watched them go back and forth to their classrooms and yes of course I got teary eyed more then once. You know how I am, I can't help it. It was a lot of fun to see Jennie enter the MTC wearing her cute name badge.

I thought it would be funny to lay on her tiny little bed so Loni and Jennie joined in on it too!!!!

Another family missionary

This is a picture of Kenny and his little sister Jennie. She was called to the Sydney, Australia mission, she leaves in July. We were so blessed to be able to attend her farewell last weekend. She has accomplished a great deal to get to this point and we are very proud of her.
